ADRIFT To Record Full-Length Debut In August
July 15, 2004ADRIFT, the new Florida-based hard rock band featuring former CANNIBAL CORPSE guitarist Jack Owen, are currently in pre-production with producer John Hughes III (CHUMLEY'S TOY, GEORGE CLINTON, DAVID SANBORNE),working on material for their as-yet untitled full-length debut, to be recorded at ARS Studios in Orlando between August 25 and September 4. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Slave", "Falling Shadows", "Generation", "Memory", "What You've Become", "Departure", "Endless Night" and "Sick". Between 11 and 13 songs will be recorded for the album, including an as-yet-undetermined cover song. ADRIFT are currently taking suggestions from friends and fans on which cover song to record at the official ADRIFT interactive forum at this location. Mastering will take place at AudioHammer Studios with Jason Suecof, who produced ADRIFT's recent demo.
Commented Jack Owen: "This full-length is going to catch a lot of people by surprise. It's got a lot of dynamic to it, from hard rock to detuned heavy. It showcases our songwriting, and we feel there are a number of radio-ready singles on the record." Added ADRIFT singer MarQ Elm: "Lyrically, I try to write with concepts in mind that everyone can relate to, be it a situation in life or a problem they might have had. Writing is a purge for me, and I hope for others as well." Drummer Kevin Astl chimed in: "We are very lucky to be working with John and ARS for this project; sonically, this record will set the industry on its ear. Mastering will be done by Jason at AudioHammer, with whom we had wanted to record the album, but Jason's schedule has gotten very hectic with as popular and successful as he has become, so it was simply a matter of time and scheduling considerations. The record will crush! Look for us on the road soon!"
After the record is done, mastered and manufactured (early September),ADRIFT plans to tour in support of it. The record will be independently released, and ADRIFT are currently seeking distribution deals to bring the music to the masses.
